“ To be fair, you probably don't come here for the food. The main USP is the premises- a real traditional Heliopolis building that once was several apartments providing gracious living in one of the best neighbourhoods, and one which retains its upscale feel despite the inevitably ingress of the noise, litter and crush that personifies Cairo today. The building interior is beautiful and the quirky and charming decor chosen to characterise Tree Trunk adds delightfully to the experience. You could just have a glass of water here and still feel you'd had a good time. Back to the menu - every single dish is recognisable as you read it and when it arrives it is exactly as you'd expect. So don't expect the cuisine to mirror the uniquely inspired decor. But do expect wholesome food in good portions leaving you well satisfied. Overall a very pleasant experience and uf you're in the area you'd be missing something if you didn't visit here. Bear in mind that reservations are essential for the roof terrace. ”
